Teacher Training

I am excited to be expanding my Yoga Teacher Training Class offerings! Currently, my training at FocusOm in Brookfield, Illinois, serves students from Chicago, LaGrange, LaGrange Park, Riverside, North Riverside, Berwyn, Brookfield, Oak Park, Western Springs and many other near West suburbs in the Chicagoland area. 

Soon, FocusOm in Batavia will offer a training for students in Batavia, St. Charles, Geneva, Elburn, Kaneville, North Aurora, and Aurora.

And, I am excited to offer a training at the Traditional Wellness Center in Dixon, IL. This will serve students in Dixon, Sterling, Rock Falls, and other local communities.

This training has been recognized and certified by Yoga Alliance, and will offer an intelligent approach to learning. My experience both as a teacher and as a student has led me to develop a training that offers a serious and vigorous immersion, with emphasis on the most important skills taught in a way to maximize learning. 

Yoga Teacher Training Topics will Include

  • In-depth study of over 60 asanas
  • Special conditions and modifications for covered asanas
  • Study of pranayama theory and basic techniques
  • Study of anatomy as it relates to yoga practice
  • Study of subtle anatomy (prana, nadis, vayus, chakras)
  • Study and practice of meditation techniques
  • Introduction to history of yoga
  • Discussion of Yoga Sutras of Patanjali with emphasis on the 8 limbs of yoga
  • Introduction to the Bhagavad Gita
  • Introduction to Ayurveda (including doshas, gunas, diet)
  • Bandhas
  • Restorative practices
  • Theory of vinyasa practice, including study of Surya Namaska
  • Student led teaching
  • Developing class plans
  • Intelligent sequencing
  • Communication skills
  • Use of props and adjustments
  • Ethics
  • Teaching special groups such as senior, prenatal
  • Discussion of current modern styles of yoga
  • Teaching multi-levels and special concerns for each level
  • Business of yoga
